If you see me in game, PM me and I"ll try to run it with with you. The defense circle doesn't mean much at that point. You can gradually work your way closer to the defense circle, but you shouldn't go repair until after the 3 wave is dealt with. Go out and meet the first and second waves from the side (in smoke) so that you can get some citadels. One other tip that really helps is to use a smoke cruiser like Leander. just by throwing some torps in front of the closest ships or DDs, they will turn broadside slowing their progress and opening up better shot. Speaking of time management, one trick is to have a CV guy on the team that understands how to slow ships down. The crunch time for this op is the the third wave, is your team in position to intercept this wave before it crosses the defense circle? (BTW - it's usually a DD sneaking across, but if you fail in this part, not only to you lose a star, but the op gets much much harder at that point). The general concepts to this op are positioning and time management. Newport sucks - difficult with experienced players and almost impossible with everyone else around.Īs long as there are 2 or 3 competent players with me, I can 5 it most times.
